Walks in the fog with our girl Blackie require endless pictures being taken, because this weather is simply way too beautiful. Even if Blackie never sits still... Or even if she tries to lick the camera every two seconds. She truly is a furry ball of happiness. // Caminhadas em dias de nevoeiro com a nossa pequena requerem um milhão de fotografias, porque este tempo é demasiado bonito. Ainda que a Blackie nunca esteja quieta... Ou ainda que ela tente lamber a câmara de dois em dois segundos. A Blackie é mesmo uma bolinha felpuda de felicidade.

Indian summer

Yes, we know... Last week we were talking about how much we love autumn and now we're mentioning summer again. Truth is, these pictures were taken today and this weather is actually pretty normal in our country: almost every year, we have a few days like this in early november. We - portuguese people - even have a name for it! It's our own indian summer, but we like to call it "saint martin' summer". So today we decided to enjoy the weather and went to a natural park nearby where we live. The most beautiful orange light peaking through the naked branches, a light breeze and the quietness of mother nature. You guys already know that this is totally our thing, right? As The Doors once sang, We love you, the best/ Better than all the rest, November.

Sim, nós sabemos... Na semana passada, estávamos a escrever sobre o quanto gostamos do outono e já estamos a mencionar o verão outra vez, mas a verdade é que estas fotografias foram tiradas hoje. Se, como nós, vivem em Portugal, isto não deve soar assim tão estranho, já que por esta altura, todos os anos, recebemos sempre o nosso verão de São Martinho. Novembro começa sempre assim, quentinho e cheio de luz, e é tão bom! Por isso, hoje decidimos ir até ao Parque Natural do Buçaquinho (em Esmoriz, Aveiro), que é um dos nossos sítios favoritos aqui ao pé de casa. A luz laranja mais bonita a espreitar por entre os ramos despidos, a brisa leve e a quietude da mãe natureza. Já sabem que isto é totalmente a nossa cara, certo? Como The Doors uma vez cantaram, We love you, the best/ Better than all the rest, Novembro.

Embracing fall

For us, embracing fall means doing everything but staying at home in our pajamas, while the rain pours down, wishing summer would be back. No. We love fall too much not to take advantage of it and that's exactly what we did the day we took these photos. We drove up to our favorite summer place to test our new 50mm lens (we're in love) and enjoyed the quietness that autumn brings to it. We love the cold, shooting in the fog, the rich colors from the leaves, being all wrapped up in layers to be able to watch the sunset without freezing and sitting by the empty beaches. Sure... We do love being home with comfort food, a movie and a blanket sometimes, but that's just not us. And, honestly, when we do decide we wanna be lazy and just watch a movie, we usually drive to the city, buy some popcorns, park the car by the sea and watch it there. What about you guys? Do you love fall too?

Para nós, receber o outono significa tudo menos ficar em casa de pijama, enquanto chove lá fora, a desejar que o verão voltasse. Não. Gostamos demasiado do outono para não tirar proveito dele e foi mesmo isso que fizemos no dia em que tiramos estas fotografias. Fomos até ao nosso lugar favorito deste verão para testar a nossa nova lente 50mm (estamos apaixonados) e gozamos a quietude que esta estação oferece. Adoramos o frio, fotografar em dias de nevoeiro, as cores ricas das folhas, vestirmo-nos com mil camadas para ver o pôr do sol sem congelarmos e passear pelas praias vazias. Sim... Também gostamos de estar em casa a ver um filme, enrolados no maior cobertor que temos e com um bolo caseiro à nossa espera, mas isso não somos nós. E, honestamente, quando realmente queremos ser preguiçosos e apenas ver um filme, normalmente conduzimos até à cidade, compramos pipocas, estacionamos o carro em frente ao mar e vemo-lo por lá. E vocês? O que é que costumam fazer no outono?

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Today's post features our last stop during our holidays, back in september. Now that we're having proper fall days in our country, we are starting to feel a bit nostalgic... Wandering around together and exploring new places without a care in the world is our absolute favorite thing to do, so coming back home is always bittersweet. We're constantly craving for new adventures, but looking through these photos all over again makes us happy for all the beautiful memories we've collected through out summer. This place is called Luz, which means "light" in portuguese. Once you're there you really get a good sense of the word, since the houses around town are all painted white. As Dylan Thomas once wrote, Do not settle into that good night/ Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Luz does this in a perfect way. And that's it. Do not settle. Explore more. Make life mean something to you and to those you love.

Na publicação de hoje queremos mostrar-vos a última paragem das nossas férias a sul. Agora que estamos a ter dias de outono a sério por cá, começamos a sentir-nos um bocadinho nostálgicos... Vaguear por aí e explorar novos lugares sem preocupações é, sem dúvida, o que mais gostamos de fazer juntos, por isso voltar a casa é sempre agridoce. Estamos constantemente a ansiar novas aventuras, mas olhar para estas fotografias de novo deixa-nos felizes por todas as memórias que guardamos deste último verão. Este lugar é uma pequena freguesia de Lagos e chama-se Luz. Depois de lá chegarmos, é fácil perceber a escolha do nome, já que todas as casas por ali são pintadas de branco. Como Dylan Thomas uma vez escreveu, Do not settle into that good night/ Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Esta freguesia faz isso de uma maneira perfeita: não deixa que a luz morra. E é mesmo isto. Não se conformem. Explorem mais. Façam com que a vida signifique alguma coisa para vocês e para aqueles que amam.
