And it's been three months since our last post... It's becoming quite a habit by now, isn't it? I guess we'll stop making excuses and admit it once and for all: we suck at committing to things like this. We don't like sharing average photos or random things just to keep you guys updated and we don't feel inspired all the time. We're humans. We have boring days. We have bad days. And that's fine. Our latest dilema? Editing photos. So, here's the thing: we take photos all the time, but we were never really satisfied with the editing we did. For example, these shots were taken back in June, but we took this long to share them because we didn't like them enough. But that problem is solved and here they are! Enough rambling. Let's talk about the place you see above, shall we?

So, as we said, these photos were taken back in June, when we went to this beautiful place called Serra da Freita with Joel's family. We had a picnic, walked through the forest, dipped ourselves in the crystal clear water of the mountains and just enjoyed the company of our loved ones. We appreciate moments like this a lot, because we don't take them for granted. Life is way too precious and way too short not to care about the important people in our lives.

E passaram-se três meses desde a nossa última publicação... Começa a ser hábito começar todos os posts assim, certo? Acho que nos vamos deixar de desculpas e admiti-lo de uma vez por todas: nós somos péssimos a comprometer-nos com coisas assim. Não gostamos de partilhar fotografias razoáveis ou aleatórias só para vos manter actualizados e também não nos sentimos inspirados a toda a hora. Somos humanos. Temos dias aborrecidos. Temos dias maus. E não faz mal. O nosso último dilema? Editar fotografias. O problema é este: estamos constantemente a fotografar, mas não temos conseguido ficar satisfeitos com a edição que fazemos. Por exemplo, estas fotografias já foram tiradas em Junho, mas demoramos tanto tempo a partilhá-las, porque simplesmente não gostávamos delas o suficiente. Até agora! Problema resolvido e acabamos por aqui os devaneios. Vamos falar do sítio que aqui vêm, pode ser? 

Como dissemos, estas fotos já foram tiradas em Junho, quando fomos à linda, linda Serra da Freita, em Arouca, com a família do Joel, Fizemos um piquenique, caminhamos pelas paisagens carregadas de verde, sentimos a água gelada e límpida das montanhas e aproveitamos o tempo com as pessoas que nos são mais queridas. Estimamos muito, muito momentos como este, porque não os tomamos por garantido. A vida é demasiado preciosa e demasiado pequena para não nos importarmos com os seres humanos que mais nos dizem.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Today's post features our last stop during our holidays, back in september. Now that we're having proper fall days in our country, we are starting to feel a bit nostalgic... Wandering around together and exploring new places without a care in the world is our absolute favorite thing to do, so coming back home is always bittersweet. We're constantly craving for new adventures, but looking through these photos all over again makes us happy for all the beautiful memories we've collected through out summer. This place is called Luz, which means "light" in portuguese. Once you're there you really get a good sense of the word, since the houses around town are all painted white. As Dylan Thomas once wrote, Do not settle into that good night/ Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Luz does this in a perfect way. And that's it. Do not settle. Explore more. Make life mean something to you and to those you love.

Na publicação de hoje queremos mostrar-vos a última paragem das nossas férias a sul. Agora que estamos a ter dias de outono a sério por cá, começamos a sentir-nos um bocadinho nostálgicos... Vaguear por aí e explorar novos lugares sem preocupações é, sem dúvida, o que mais gostamos de fazer juntos, por isso voltar a casa é sempre agridoce. Estamos constantemente a ansiar novas aventuras, mas olhar para estas fotografias de novo deixa-nos felizes por todas as memórias que guardamos deste último verão. Este lugar é uma pequena freguesia de Lagos e chama-se Luz. Depois de lá chegarmos, é fácil perceber a escolha do nome, já que todas as casas por ali são pintadas de branco. Como Dylan Thomas uma vez escreveu, Do not settle into that good night/ Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Esta freguesia faz isso de uma maneira perfeita: não deixa que a luz morra. E é mesmo isto. Não se conformem. Explorem mais. Façam com que a vida signifique alguma coisa para vocês e para aqueles que amam.

The fortress

Oh, Sagres... What a place. All you feel there is a sense of stillness. The wind, the ocean, the sea-carved cliffs and nothing else. Mother Nature in all its glory. Being in Sagres is feeling like you've reached the end of Earth: once you stand on those high rocks, the sea seems endless. We started the day by visiting the Sagre's Fortress, which has been there for ages and used to be a geo-strategic maritime defense system. Since it is almost impossible to separate the portuguese people from their connection to the ocean, we believe this place really shows the beauty of living near the tall waves. On the afternoon, we visited Beliche's Beach - hands down, one of the most beautiful beaches we know -, which is also located in Sagres. We had to go through a bunch of stairs to get in there, but it was definitely worth the effort. The beach was surrounded by very high cliffs defining the boundaries of the whole cenario and adjusting the sea to fit the area, creating a very natural and raw view. Have any of you been here?

Oh, Sagres... Que lugar. É impossível que não se entranhe uma sensação de quietude depois de lá chegarmos. O vento, o oceano, as falésias moldadas pelo mar e nada mais. A Mãe Natureza em toda a sua plenitude. Estar em Sagres é sentir que atingimos o fim da Terra: do topo das falésias, o mar sente-se infinito. Começamos este dia a visitar a Fortaleza, que já existe há séculos e que funcionava como um sistema defensivo marítimo geo-estratégico. Como é quase impossível dissociar os portugueses da sua ligação com o oceano, acreditamos que este lugar transmite na perfeição a beleza que reside em viver perto do mar. Pela tarde, decidimos visitar a Praia do Beliche - sem dúvida alguma, uma das praias mais bonitas que conhecemos -, que também fica em Sagres. Tivemos que descer imensos degraus (que não recomendamos a pessoas com vertigens!), mas valeu definitivamente o esforço. A praia é rodeada por falésias muito altas que definem os limites de todo o cenário e ajustam o mar, criando uma paisagem muito natural e crua. Já estiveram por aqui?
